FASHION TRENDS: SPRING/SUMMER 2011

LOUNGERIE: LINGERIE AS OUTWEAR.


The trend of wearing lingere as outwear was in the 1980’s. This trend came back in 2009 and 2010 runway. The trend will continue in 2011 spring/summer trend. The named coined for it is loungere which is a combination of lingere, Streetwear and swim wear.


KITTEN HEELS.



With the comeback of the 60’s dress, comes the Kitten heel shoe. This is usually the least favorite of the heel family. They are usually 2inches high or less. For summer, they will give an alternative to flat shoes for a more sophisticated casual look.


60’s DRESS



Full, below the knee type of dress.  This silhouette was worn in the late 50’s and the 60’s. The dresses are tight at the waistline. This silhouette was in Louis Vinton and Prada 2010 Fall collection. It was in heavy fabrics like wool. For the spring summer collection, Lighter fabrics and brighter colours are to be expected. To make the billowy skirt more feminine, it’s best if paired with a tight or fitting top.


THE BOB AND FRINGE (BANGS)
This hairdo made a come back in 2008. It was a short and razor sharp bang.For the Spring and summer 2011, Longer and softer bangs are to be expected.


CAT- EYE SUNGLASSES
The cat eye sunglasses are a 50’s and 60’s trend. It made a comeback in Prada’s fall collection. The eye wear trend continued on the runway in the summer 2011 collections of designers like Paul Smith and Tommy Hilfiger.
The eyeglasses come in different shapes and sizes but the basic cat eye retro look dominates and is in now.





MEN’S COLLECTION.

D&G provided a base for the spring/summer 2011 collection by pairing Hawaaian shirts with plain cotton pants and shorts. The look is very casual, very out of office. It has an aura of sophistication and simple comfort. The look is all about the flowery print.
